I always need a little inspiration to help me get out of bed early (Thank you Insta). So I was minding my business on Instagram ( BTW, its hard to mind your business on instagram) and then I saw her. I had my mouth wide open all the way down to the last picture on her profile. She is a female shoe maker and she is really really Good, it was amazing to see what a woman could do in a field that is identified as a man’s job. She is the CEO of Aeeshacollections. Aeesha collections is a hub for classy, elegant and bespoke shoes for men and women who want to culturally fit into the society. Emphasizing the importance of made in Nigeria, alluring styles, latest trends and uniqueness. I quickly took her number for some Q & A. I wanted to know how lovely crafts and craftsmanship was conceived.

What was growing up like for you
Well for me, growing up was great being an average kid.I attended good schools and my parents brought me up in such a way that I grew up knowing there’s a consequence for every action.
Why shoe making
Shoemaking because I have always loved shoes.
When did you start making footwear
I started six years ago.
How long did it take for you to establish yourself and what were your challenges
It took me two years to establish myself and the challenges involved are publicity, getting investors, being a woman working in a male dominated field, people not wanting to patronize made in Nigeria products and lots more.
How many staffs have you employed so far
Wow, I have about seven of them but I pay them on a pay as you go basis
What was starting this business like for you
Wow I started this business because I was jobless and I needed to do something that will make me leave the house in the morning and arrive at night.
What keeps you going
Encouragement and sweet words from clients and other people keeps me moving.
Do you organize teaching workshops. If yes, how can one take part in the training
Yes we do training but for sometime now we haven’t been running training but another session will kick off in February. When its time people will get to know through our social media platforms and other public means.
What inspires your designs
Leather inspires my designs and whats in vogue also does.

We buy from importers that ship in raw materials from Italy, Spain, turkey and china.
